City Council Record
Fiscally Conservative
When I was first elected to City Council, I promised the city of Yorba Linda by ensuring that every dollar a taxpayer gives is accountable and transparent. Yorba Linda deserves responsible governance. Since I became a Councilmember, our city has accelerated payments to reduce Yorba Linda’s pension liability payment plan from 30 years to 20 years, and we have funded more into the City’s medical trust to pay for the City’s medical liability. That’s why I’ve implemented fiscally conservative policies that have led to yearly budget surpluses in Yorba Linda.
Supporting Small Businesses
I’ve worked to support any business that wanted to operate in Yorba Linda. I’ve made sure our city helped building owners to improve properties to attract tenants. We work with the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce to help market the city to businesses. When Sacramento ordered the shutdown of businesses during COVID-19, I led the way by providing relief grants to Yorba Linda small businesses.
Local Control & Housing Reform
While I was the chair for the Southern California Association of Governments Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) Subcommittee and Appeals Board, it became clear that Sacramento politicians have no business making ineffective and housing policies.
For the past four years, I’ve led a home-grown coalition of southern California elected officials that fought back against Sacramento’s one-size-fits all housing policies. It’s clear that politicians and lobbyists from Sacramento don’t understand what's best for Yorba Linda. Housing policies need to be made on a case-by-case, city-by-city process.
Improved Transportation
Transportation is essential for every member of Yorba Linda. Thats why I led the charge on the 241 toll board to implement safety barriers and begin building the 241/91 connector to alleviate traffic in Yorba Linda. I also provided additional oversight when I chaired the Foothill / Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency.
